ASCII Maps and Poly9

May 17th, 2006 · No Comments

Have you ever wondered what happened to the ASCII art phenomenon on the 70s and 80s? Look no further than ASCII Maps from Canadian based Poly9 Group Inc. ASCII Maps is a mashup between Google maps and ASCII art where the map data is dynamically translated into a text based representation. I’m not sure it’s really functional, but it’s an incredible example of the possibilities now available via Web 2.0 technologies.

Thanks to Amanda Congdon @ Rocketboom via Phil Windley’s Technometira for the lead.
